Watchful Killdeer

This is an image of a Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) that I captured some time ago, likely during the early days of my photography journey.

"A shorebird you can see without going to the beach, Killdeer are graceful plovers common to lawns, golf courses, athletic fields, and parking lots. These tawny birds run across the ground in spurts, stopping with a jolt every so often to check their progress, or to see if they’ve startled up any insect prey. Their voice, a far-carrying, excited kill-deer, is a common sound even after dark, often given in flight as the bird circles overhead on slender wings." - allaboutbirds.org

"The Killdeer stands poised on a patch of short, sunlit grass, its slender legs almost delicate against the earth. Its plumage is a striking mix of warm brown on its back and wings, contrasted against the crisp white of its underside. an der extra für sie aufgeschütteten Lehmwand der St. Martins Therme fühlen sich die Bienenfresser sichtlich wohl.

Der neue Brutplatz wird sehr gerne von ihnen angenommen. Und aus dem Hide können sie ohne Störung beobachtet werden.

Tiere sind Freunde und kein Essen oder eine Plage.
Bleibt gesund, glücklich und verliebt.

Der schlimmste Seelenschmerz ist das Fernweh.

Hello my dear life forms,

The bee-eaters are clearly feeling at home on the clay wall of the St. Martins Therme, which was specially built for them.

They are very happy with their new nesting site. And they can be observed undisturbed from the hide.

Animals are friends, not food or a nuisance.
Stay healthy, happy and in love.

The most terrible pain in the soul is wanderlust.

W mediach często straszy się chorobami odzwierzęcymi, a zwłaszcza tymi, którymi ludzie mogą się zarazić od gołębi. Podobnie jak w przypadku wilków, media rozkręcają społeczną histerię. Twierdzenia medialnych ekspertów są niepoparte żadnymi naukowymi dowodami, są to tylko uprzedzenia.

Główny Inspektorat Sanitarny zapytany o potwierdzone przypadki zachorowania człowieka po kontakcie z gołębiem odpowiedział, że w ciągu ostatnich 10 lat były w Polsce 2 przypadki ornitozy. GIS nie był jednak w stanie podać czy zaistniały one po kontakcie z gołębiem. O tym jednak nie przeczytacie w mainstreamowych mediach.

Dlatego warto pomagać wszystkim zwierzętom, nie trzeba się bać, nasza pomoc może uratować komuś życie!

Kilka lat tematu napisaliśmy na naszym fundacyjnym blogu, że „w pracy ze zwierzętami, podobnie jak z ludźmi, trzeba dbać o higienę. Jednorazowe rękawiczki, mydło, płyn dezynfekujący wystarczą, by czuć się bezpiecznie”. I to wystarczy. Nie ma powodu bać się gołębi. Ani żadnych innych zwierząt.

I'm Coming After You

Here is an image of a blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) that seems to be flying straight toward me. In reality, the bird was simply heading to a feeder positioned between us. Still, with its intense gaze, it almost looks like it’s staring right through me.
