A quiet shape with velvet ears and gentle eyes.
Honeyed silence, just a comforting presence.
A moment wrapped in ribbon, waiting to be remembered.

Met a local digital artist living here in Humboldt County for a bagel this morning. He’s not on Mastodon, but his website is here:
It was so invigorating, validating, human, and inspiring to meet someone in my field who was able to offer me advice about moving here and finding my footing. He was a consummate professional, kind, friendly, and deeply earnest about sharing his experiences.
I learned SO much. And I left feeling more optimistic than I have in months.
It was good getting out, meeting someone in person not just online. It restored a bit of my mental health. I needed it desperately!
I got my new Struthless book today, and I’m really looking forward to diving into it.
I deeply connected to his previous book, and his video series on YouTube always feeds my soul and heart even if they’re kinda depressing. His tools for coping are spot on for me.
So I may take some personal time today. And make several pots of my favorite tea. And try to put some balm on my bruises because these last couple weeks have been vicious on my art ego. My ups-and-downs cycle has been brutal lately, and I need some good news.
I’m hoping this will help.
I heard people don’t watch "Banksy art " anymore.. do I still have fans

So the plan today is to:
First—Call mom.
Second—work in the yard this afternoon, because it needs it and it’s always mentally refreshing to be in green. It feels good when the yard looks like there’s been attention paid to it.
But first: coffee. Lots of yummy creamy coffee. Then, somehow, a few product pics for new greeting card listings. But that comes after coffee.
i wrote a new blog post about my new print offerings. I’m very excited about this new path I’m going down. It’s a mental shift for me, somehow, and it makes things different.

I helped someone learn the joys of RSS feeds today.
I am so thankful the tool exists that helps me curate my own internet experience… I can stay up to date in ways I couldn’t before, and I’m seeing updates to things that I would have lost without it.
I am following so many lovely artist bloggers, and when folks make new posts I don’t have to worry about missing the notification they have a new one that they shared on some social media walled garden whose algorithm hides it from me because it has an external link.
My reader isn’t fancy (It’s called ReadKit and it’s for Apple) but it keeps me informed.
Now to encourage people to stop using platforms to share their stuff and start using their own websites. I shouldn’t need to join some company’s silo container to see your latest news.
Here’s my blog. Type in the web address into your reader. It’ll set you up.
I’ve started listening to Rachel Syme’s book, Syme’s Letter Writing, on audio. And not only is she a charming narrator, but I do believe she’s written a sort of “manifesto” that I can get behind!
“But letters still serve a vital purpose, which is that they exist to mock the very idea of efficiency. They require slow, gear-crunching effort on both ends, for the writer and for the reader and for the many hands responsible for transporting the envelope in between the two. Letter writing is a time consuming rebuke to a world that tries to optimize every activity into a seamless slipstream, and there is joy to be had once you fully embrace the medium’s outdated extravagance.”
and
“The truth is, nobody has to write letters anymore. We are all hilariously reachable, and yet the last place anyone thinks to find us is inside our mailboxes. Snail mail’s reputation has become that of an intrusive junky nuisance at worst and, at best, a cringy affectation for people who think they are Jane Austen. But what if we just decided to do it anyway?”
This book is speaking to my soul. We’re inundated with “faster & more efficient” all the time, creating “tools" to cram in more and more stuff.
But slow living, unplugging to reconnect… Those are things experiencing a renaissance. People are leaving social media in droves. Maybe it’s okay to sometimes enjoy the process of communication instead of its expediency?
New blog post on some successes I’ve had lately. They’ve happened quickly, and it’s difficult to share them in a timely fashion because literally each one could be broken down into a single shared post so I figured I’d just combine them all for convenience! Haha!
