A spectacular view of Lake Solitude from the ledge of Mt Sunapee, NH

Lake Solitude viewed from a ledge of Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire. The sky is blue without a cloud, the horizon is blue hazy view of surrounding mountains, the sunlit forest beyond the lake is almost chartreuse. The trees below the ledge look forest green. We sat on the boulder ledge that gave me a slight queasiness from the sheer drop. A perfect day for a hike!

Delighted to find some Eastern Newts in the shallows of Lake Solitude.

An Eastern newt in the crystal clear shallows of Lake Solitude of Mount Sunapee, NH. The newt is grey with yellow line on the length of the back, and has small orange dots on the back. Looks like a lizard with flimsy legs like those of tadpoles becoming frogs. The lake bed is the similar colors to the newt.

Oh, and a delightful pickerel frog on my sandaled and socked foot!! 😍🐸🤍

The pickerel frog on my toe. I was trying to take a closer photo and the frog hopped on my foot, wearing the hiking sock and sandal. The sock is grey, white and blue, and my sandal strap has the continuous sideway v-pattern in aqua and navy. The small frog is dark greenish gold with some distinctive square patterns on the back. A beautiful and slender frog, slightly smaller than my big toe.
