My latest haul from Kensington Fruit Market. Papaya, melon, water melon, picklers (cucumbers), and mini potatoes for six bucks. I just made a whack of lentil soup with chopped up cucumbers (and the papaya seeds went nice in it too). Papaya and water melon for desert.
Cheap and ripe, but I need to eat it fast, since it's close to going bad.
Assessment: the pickler cucumbers are good -- I've been chopping them up and adding them to soup; the potatoes are good; the water melon was okay (overly ripe, but edible); the papaya was half okay, but half had to be tossed; the melon was rancid and had to be tossed.
Neat discovery: papaya seeds taste like peppers. They went great in a soup I made.
