I notice here that the "adequate intake" of sodium is listed as 1500 mg / day.
But I found this site which states,
"In ancient times, prior to access to external sources of salt (i.e., salt mines), the level of daily average salt intake was low, approximately 0.1–1.0 g/day (0.04–0.4 g sodium/day)"
That's 40 to 400 mg of sodium, which is a helluva lot less than 1500. I'm convinced we're being fed a lot of BS about sodium.
