On my tour of the Pelican NWR, saw these Beggar Ticks attracting butterflies. Previously treated as native plants, evidence (including DNA) is piling up that they are not. Probably just as well.

They are found in disturbed areas, such as the maintained trail I was walking on.

The center reproductive structures are small golden knobs, some of which have opened up to small tube-like structures with brown bases.
