Without me, my push stick is nothing.
Without my push stick, I am taking unnecessary risk.

@highpotenuse I'm not clear about this. It seems that when there is enough to the piece out to the side of the blade, there are control advantages to having my hand on the piece. Without that width, of course, I fully agree.
@davey this is for those times when things are tight near the fence. If there is ample room to do so safely I prefer using hands, as well.
@highpotenuse Awright. And sometimes I'll do both: I'll use the pusher from behind while guiding with my other hand off to the side, so the work is less likely to cock as I push it.
P.S. This doesn't make me a good woodworker; I'm not.
