1/20 There's something I haven't seen discussed online a lot. But it affects a lot of people, in negative ways that are not immediately obvious to the people around them.
I'm describing this to ask you to think about it a little, and, I hope, perhaps treat the affected with a little more #empathy once you understand.
I have to tell my own story to get into this, but it'll be short.
10/20 So you learn to #pretend, to act like you are following the conversation. You plaster an interested look or a friendly smile across your face and turn to face whoever's mouth is moving in the group at any given time.
When the speaker looks at you for confirmation, you give the little nod or other body language that we've all learned and perform subconsciously, without thinking, that tells the speaker "I'm with you, go on".
You don't *try* to do this. It's forced on you.
