I had never seen 1 white pelican let alone the numbers I saw on this day. The American White Pelican has striking white plumage. They use that enormous bill with the large pouch for fishing. They form groups in order to corral their prey. You may have seen them diving in mass into the ocean. They have a huge wing span and are quite agile in flight.
