I don't know why I'm thinking of this #memory this morning, but it cracked me up remembering it! #funny
It was the time my mom casually asked my oldest sister and I if we wanted epilepsy.
English is her third language. She's from #Germany, but her mother was #Lithuanian. Despite nearly perfect English generally (I think), there are still some words she says not quite correctly.
Like ale for oil. Coin for cone. My favorite was the secular phone. (Dad one time teased her about her phone being non-denominational, but that didn't stop her.)
So in a way, we kids got used to translating for her. Except this time. We were in the car and mom was the one driving. I was in the back seat and my sister was up front.
"Do you want epilepsy?" She asked us.
My sister and I were both stumped. Thinking the other had a clue, our eyes met and we realized the other had no idea. So we tried to get her to explain, but she only repeated it, getting more frustrated with our lack of understanding.
My sister and I locked eyes again, confusion very clear. What could mom be talking about? Was she having a medical emergency while driving??
