Piece of Praxis: rituals/prayers aren't the only act of devotion. Mundane acts can be devotional. Ie: cleaning up trash at parks for Jörð, learning/playing/practicing music for Bragi, etc can be devotional. #paganism #polytheism #oldgodsmodernday #Praxis #simple #bothvalid #devotion
@Fragglemuppet @StatesideSali this. So much this. Going to church doesn't automatically make you a good person.
@gocu54 True, but I don't think that's actually what the post was about. It's if you can't or don't want to get to formal worship, or if you don't have a formal practice of your own but still want to celebrate and honor your gods, there are other things you can do. You can do all or none of these things and be a good person or not.
@Fragglemuppet yeah, I may have gone on a bit of a tangent there but I guess the short of it is, I agree with the post.
@Fragglemuppet @gocu54 So what I was going for was more "Don't feel the need to do a fancy ritual/prayer because your hobbies can be reflective of devotion". I understand "going to church doesn't make you x person", because some see attendance as a point of having high morals or being more "connected" spiritually. But you will have good&bad days that affect your ability to do anything fancy.
@StatesideSali the only division between mundane and spiritual is the one we chose to create, or rather those that are imposed upon us. How magical is it that the light from the sun travels through the void to a plant to be converted into sugars that we can then process into energy.
Or that we silly once fish, once apes, created plastics and now chose to pick them up and not smoother the earth
