Been playing around with #Owncast and it's been an AMAZING experience so far.
I know it's in the works, but I can't wait for it to offer VOD support because my streams are already being saved on object storage behind a CDN so they're ready to go.
Getting NVENC setup with ffmpeg was a pain but not too bad. Overall it was a good setup experience.
Currently running on an sub-$150 Dell Optiplex with a i3-7100 and a Quadro P400 GPU (max 3 transcoding streams per NVIDIA's self imposed limits).

This issue appears to have been resolved. We needed to make a slight change to our CDN and all testing shows all videos are working properly now.
We've reduced the number of quality options since this is now fixed.
I made a slight change to the CDN for https://Mindly.Social tonight.
Yell at me if you see any issues with it.
Also, it's been almost a full month since I switch us over to Cloudflare, the numbers are impressive.
Anybody using #Owncast that's tested both NVENC and QSV for transcoding?
I'm curious to hear your results to save some time before I go through all of the testing myself.
Setting up a Owncast box on a Dell Optiplex with an Intel i3 7100 and NVIDIA Quadro P400 before I build something specific for dedicated streaming.
Thanks in advance! 🙂
Ultimately, I've just lost interest in livestreaming. Twitch really killed it for me back in 2019/2020.
I need to find a platform I'm comfortable with that has an experience I'm happy with and willing to subject my viewers to.
It just seems like the DIY thing is the way to go at this point. I switched from birdsite to Mastodon and I've been happier, PeerTube gives me the sense of security YouTube can't, so maybe Owncast is my streaming savior?
I guess we'll find out.

I would stream on Glimesh but no VOD support, I hate the idea of making X hours of content and it just being gone forever once it's over.
YouTube has the tech, but the UX is bad. If they could fix the UX I'd consider switching.
Trovo seemed promising, but weird choices about their platform + owned by Tencent = nah.
#PeerTube was nice, but CPU encoding is painful so the latency is bad.
#Owncast I really need to build a server to test this out. I keep putting it off. This weekend?

I opened OBS and was preparing to stream some Diablo Immortal and then I realized I was going to stream on Twitch and it made me close OBS.
Twitch has really soured the livestreaming experience for me and it's a real shame.
Twitch is a garbage company with unfair treatment towards its streamers and viewers so I pulled all of my money from them and cancelled my Affiliate contract months ago.
Sadly Twitch is also the best streaming experience out there and all of my followers are there.

Make your own private music and podcast streaming service with Nextcloud Music:

Overall this was really nice!
You need to supply the music files and podcast addresses yourself, but once that's done you get a proper private, independent streaming service that also works on mobile apps.
BTW, do check out @powderpaint, especially their album Powderpaint and track Constellation

@KuJoe Have you had a look at socialConnect (https://socialconnect.lowl.io/)?
I've been looking for a good minimalist #PHP login/registration framework that I could easily integrate into my projects for ages.
Tonight I finally just broke down and coded my own. It fits my current needs, but it needs quite a bit of work to get it all polished up.
I might put it up on GitHub later so people can point out what I'm doing wrong so I can make it better.
It's almost 4AM now so time for sleep. 😴
