I finished my first Korean short story of the week, it was so engrossing I couldn’t put it down! It’s from one of my most recent purchases, a collection of horror stories that won the literary contest 기기괴괴공모전.
The short story I read is the winner: 탈피, 키스 by 백해인 (Baek Haein). It’s about a woman whose life becomes miserable because of a skin condition, and how far she’ll go to get rid of it.
@Inhae If you like those kinds of creepy stories, maybe also check out 'Cursed Bunny' by Bora Chung! I've obviously read the translation by Anton Hur (nominated for the International Booker!), but I'm sure the stories are equally creepy and interesting in Korean too!
@mollymay5000 @Inhae I'll second Cursed Bunny, really enjoyed that too (in English translation)

My husband has read it, so we have the book at home! I tried to read the first story, but I found it too hard in terms of language level, so maybe I’ll check out the translation instead. (Could also be a good opportunity to read in parallel!)
@Inhae The translation is quite good. Anton is a master of his craft. Highly recommend!

Good to hear! I’ll definitely go for the translation then :)
