So... is it better to work with the browser portal to your instance than it is to deal with a phone app? Because I don't seem to see follows or requests on my Android and have to go to the desktop and log in to my instance to see the Notifications for them.

Not all Android apps support all features available in the browser.

The official Mastodon app isn't great. I've been liking Tusky. I've heard a few people say they like Fedilab.

In some apps, there's a preference setting for "enable slow mode" that keeps your feeds from updating until you swipe down to refresh. Might also check to see if that's defaulted to "on."

@jeb Thanks for the recs, I am hearing good things about @Tusky but hadn't plunged into it yet. Big learning curve to the my departed spouse would have loved this digital jungle.
