At around 11:30 PM on June 1, 2011, my partner and I went to the 86th floor observatory of the Empire State Building. This is a (not particularly exciting) recording of us getting checked in and going from ground level to the 86th floor in an express elevator.
Once we got there, it was very windy, so that part of the recording is pretty useless, and not included here.
Recorded with an Olympus DM520 and Panasonic WM61 microphones.
@BorrisInABox OK that was cool. One day I hope to visit the top of the Empire State building myself. It just hasn't happened yet. But it's on my bucket list. And that was unique the multilingual announcement about the views up there. First time I've ever heard that
@kd6cae I've never been to the top, only the 86th floor. I've been told by many that radio is just about useless up there due to all the RF floating around, but I've not tried it.
@BorrisInABox that's kind of how it is at the top of the Strat in Las Vegas, though I was still able to do some pretty good radio stuff on UHF, and even a little bit on VHF, despite there being a broadcast FM transmitter at that location now.
@BorrisInABox And I didn't even count the languages that were expressed in the elevator. Haha
@Rachelk Yeah, there were a good few of those.
